Greetings

Sorry for taking so long to send out an update, whether that be for Box Of Bass Pro, Box Of Synths or general updates. Full disclosure, Box Of Rules and everything under that umbrella is just one person: me. In the last six months I definitely bit off more than I could chew, especially as the music and production landscapes seem to accelerate every day.

So, rather than keep taking manic steps trying to keep up, I've taken a couple of months to give extensive consideration to what the future looks like for me, the brand, the tools and the wider digital music space in general. And as I was doing this, I've also been contacted by some larger music companies in relation to digital projects… and I can't say more than that (for now) but, I can robustly assure you, the silence hasn't been empty.

Box Of Synths and Box Of Bass Pro

I launched the Box Of Synths beta nearly two months ago, and it was overwhelmed within two days. It was far from perfect but the feedback and usage was immediately illuminating on what people's generative needs were (even when hamstrung to a non-AI database option); my plan had been to scale to a pro version immediately, but upon reflection, I decided the market didn't need that right now.

Box Of Synths: beta full in two days

So instead, I have built my own alternative to the industry plugin toolkit (rhymes with moose) in Rust which I intend to release within the next two weeks, and to prove my faith in it, I have rebuilt all my plugins with it (including a stable version of Box Of Synths) which I will release as a version 2, to avoid conflicts (and to allow maintenance of the legacy versions). Following this initial event, I will finally release Box Of Bass Pro. Thank you so much for your patience (and insistence); I won't lie I have been somewhat overwhelmed with hundreds of people signing up and asking "when? When? WHEN?", but I think I have come to terms with what is expected of me and the software now.

Le Onde

In the meantime, I want to share a project and release that is very close to my heart: I am autistic and ADHD. For years I have struggled with sensory overload, which is why I took until aged 36 to become a real public facing musician, but I made a business to provide solutions for myself and others called Goghini with our flagship product Focus Frames. I even made an entire plugin dedicated to the effects of peace, calm and focus they provide me.

To combine my passion with my business of passion, I decided to do something special: I covered Ludovico Einaudi's "Le Onde" with my oldest friend, with me playing bass, doing all my automated weirdness, and Rob on violin. Wearing the Focus Frames. Please check it out while I put these final pieces in place for the Box Of Bass and Box Of Synths plugins. You can stream it here or watch on YouTube.

Thanks for your support and patience; let's end 2026 with a bang!

James
